The ‘Velvet Underground Experience’ is a new multi-media art and music exhibition that takes music lovers back in time, spotlighting the iconic band’s early NYC roots in the ‘60s. The immersive space is filled with rare photos, new mini-documentaries, vintage avant-garde films, music, interviews, counterculture memorabilia and concert flyers embodying the band’s spirit and time spent in NYC.

To honor the city where the Velvet Underground formed, a dedicated space for performances and panels has been set up in the basement (literally underground). Dubbed the Bandsintown Studio, the intimate, 100 capacity venue hosts local emerging artists that have been inspired by, or carry forward the Velvet’s message and sound.

The resident artist in the Bandsintown Studio is Adrian Jêan, an LA-based singer with serious chops. Catch him dazzling concertgoers every Thursday with both original material and reimaginings of some of the Velvet Underground’s classic songs.

For the headlining acts, artists from all five boroughs have hit the stage on Thursday nights after Adrian, including Brooklyn-based psych-rockers Acid Dad and Long Island’s Blac Rabbit, who you probably recognize from their viral Beatles covers. Other acts who’ve performed at the Bandsintown Studio thus far? The Britanys, Deaf Poets, and Petite League.
